Kindergarten – 1st Grade:
Practice style clinics will be held throughout the Spring with an emphasis on developing the proper fundamentals of the game of lacrosse. Similar to the Winter Season, the clinics are designed to work with the girls and developing the most basic skills involved in the game of girl’s lacrosse. We feel that it is far more important to involve skills where all the girls have a “ball in stick” at the same time. This style develops more girls than a typical drill which involves one (1) ball and several girls in a long line waiting their turn. These clinics will begin later in the Spring than the older grade levels as we usually wait for warmer weather when working with these grade levels.
2nd– 6th Grade:
Based on the number of participants and grade level the girls are entered as a team into Nassau PAL or Suffolk County Girls Lacrosse Leagues where they will play in an eight (8) game season. Games are held on Sunday’s from April to June. Grades 2 thru 6 will also hold practices during the week to further improve their skills both from an individual level as well as from the team concept. These practices will be held with their individual team along with the coaches. The Spring league is a “travel” style league where each team will play four (4) home games and four (4) away games. Practices are usually held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s @ Murphy or Gelinas Jr. High School. Additional practice days may be added but that will depend on individual grade levels. Due to School District policy, practices for outside groups will not take place until 5:00 PM.
